BY-LAWS

THE SKYSCRAPER CLUB OF CLEVELAND, INC.

 

ARTICLE I COLORS

The official colors of the CLUB shall be royal blue and white.

ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES

A candidate for membership successfully complying with the eligibility requirements as set forth in Article III, Section 1.A. of the Constitution, shall assume the status of Prospective Member for a four month probationary period, upon receipt of an application and a Prospective fee. Within the probationary period, the Prospective Member must attend at least three of the CLUB'S activities and one Business Meeting. A candidate for membership shall be voted upon at a Regular or Special Business Meeting. Newly elected members must pay pro-rated dues for the remainder of the calendar year within one month of acceptance and upon payment of this fee, a copy of the Constitution and By-Laws shall be issued by Membership.

Previous member that has formally resigned or have been dropped for non-payment of dues who wishes to be re-instated into the CLUB, must pay the Prospective fee and any other outstanding financial obligations. Said member shall assume the status of Prospective Member and shall attend two activities within a two month period at which time the Prospective Member shall be voted upon at a Regular or Special Business Meeting.

A member shall recite the following immediately after acceptance into membership in the CLUB: "I hereby acknowledge approval of my membership into the Skyscraper Club of Cleveland, Inc. I pledge to support the CLUB with my membership and follow the Constitution and By-Laws, a copy of which I have received."

ARTICLE III: REVOCATION OF MEMBERSHIP:
Any member may be expelled for just cause. Said matter shall be discussed at a Special Caucus of the Cabinet to determine the seriousness of the offense. If further action is necessary, the person(s) involved shall be referred to the next Special or scheduled Cabinet Meeting. The dispute shall be amicably settled or referred to the next scheduled Business Meeting with prior notice to the membership. After discussion, a vote shall be taken at the Business Meeting. Revocation of membership shall occur when a secret ballot shows two-thirds (2/3) majority of those present supporting such vote.
 
ARTICLE IV: REMOVAL FROM OFFICE:
Any officer may be removed for just cause by presentation of complaint in writing with the signature of three (3) members in good standing to the Cabinet meeting. The dispute shall be amicably settled or referred to the next regularly scheduled Business Meeting, after first notifying all members in good standing. Proxy voting shall be extended to those unable to attend. Removal from office shall occur when a secret ballot shows two-thirds (2/3) majority of Regular Members in good standing supporting such vote.
 
ARTICLE V: APPOINTED OFFICERS:
The following Appointed Officers shall be selected from members in good standing. The Executive Board may appoint additional Officers as necessary.
 
SCRAPER EDITOR:
Scraper Editor is responsible for official publications of the CLUB and the publication of the current membership list quarterly.
 
PUBLICITY:
Publicity is responsible for favorable publicity in the name of the CLUB and is to stimulate interest among the CLUB members on projects approved by the Cabinet.
 
WAYS AND MEANS CHAIRPERSON:
Ways and Means Chairperson is responsible for creation and execution of profit making ideas approved by the Cabinet.
 
HISTORIAN AND PHOTOGRAPHER:
Historian and Photographer is responsible for maintenance of the CLUB photo albums, newsletters and memorabilia.
 
Appointed Officers may be discharged by a majority vote of the Cabinet.
 
ARTICLE VI: FINANCIAL

Proposed non-budget expenditures for the CLUB in the amount of $50 dollars or less shall require only the approval of the President. Proposed expenditures over $50 shall require the approval of a majority of the membership present at a Regular or Special Business Meeting.

Dues shall be $25 per year. Prospective Members shall be charged pro-rata beginning with and including the month of acceptance of the CLUB through December 1.

Married couples who are both members of the CLUB, shall pay $35 per year.

Subscribers are members of T.C.I. who wish to receive a copy of the newsletter, shall pay $15.

Single members living beyond a 50 mile radius of Cleveland shall pay $20 per year.

Married couples living beyond a 50 mile radius of Cleveland shall pay $30 per year.

Military persons will remain Regular Members until the time of their discharge.

Members not paying their dues by December 31, will be assessed an additional $5 late fee. Non-payment of dues by January 1 will result in re-evaluation of membership. Only Cabinet may waive this deadline.

The Prospective fee shall be $5 and is not refundable.

Members shall be wholly charged with and held responsible for any reservations made in their name, unless canceled within the stipulated deadline or in case of dire emergency at the discretion of the Cabinet. Collection for default in reservation shall be made by the Cabinet within one month or the member shall be considered not in good standing and all CLUB privileges shall be revoked.

A Cabinet member will be charged $5 for missing any Business or Cabinet Meeting without prior 24 hour notice to the President. The President may waive the 24 hour requirement in case of an emergency.

All members in attendance at a CLUB function are required to pay the stipulated fee at the door. Failure to comply will constitute default.

 

Damages occurring at a party room or house party are the responsibility of the person(s) doing the damage or the CLUB if the person(s) cannot be identified.
