Welcome to summer! The best time of year in Rochester for sure!
The Tall Club of Rochester will be taking advantage of everything summer
has to offer in Rochester...and we want to invite you to come along for
the fun!
On Friday June 18, TCR will hold a happy hour and dinner at Schooners,
40 Marina Drive, off Pattonwood Street, behind Shumway Marina.
Schooners is as casual as it gets, so dress for a beach party! Meet
at 6:30 and RSVP by email, whether or not you plan to attend.
Tuesday June 22 through Wednesday June 30 is the Tall Clubs
International Convention and Pre-Convention in New Orleans. Walt
Narog and I will be going, and during Pre-Convention, June 22-24, we
will be working with Habitat for Humanity with their post-Katrina
rebuilding efforts. Starting June 24 is Convention itself, with
plenty of time for sightseeing in and about New Orleans...and all of the
usual fun, dances, sports and especially, the Miss Tall International
Pageant. I wish more of you were going...when I attended my first
Convention in 1996, I truly became aware for the first time what a
wonderful group of people were in the 50 other member clubs of TCI and how
much fun a couple of hundred tall people could have with one another.
When we get back, it will be almost July, and its going to be hot for
sure! To start your 4th of July weekend, join the Tall Club for
another happy hour and dinner on July 2 at Pomodoro Grill and Wine Bar,
1290 University Avenue. Pomodoro has one of the best and biggest
decks in town, and live music on Friday nights. Meet at 6;30 and
again, your RSVP, whether or not you plan to attend, would be greatly
appreciated.
Our next event will be a little different. On Sunday, July 11, we
will canoe the Irondequoit Bay. Bay Creek Paddling offers a shuttle
from their location on Empire Blvd., at the foot of the Bay, to Ellison
Park. We paddle back DOWNSTREAM to the Bay. Its fun for older
kids, teens and adults, so why not consider making this a family event!

RSVPs are a must, and because we have to make reservations well in
advance, please let me know ASAP. After canoeing, we may go out for
dinner...perhaps at McGregors, practically next door to Bay Creek!
July 30 is sure to be a fine summer night...so TCR will be soaking in
the rays at Castaways, 244 Lake Road in Webster. Right on Lake
Ontario, Castaways has long been a tall club favorite. I know its a
long ways off...but we do want your RSVPs...because we want to see you
there!
Finally, don't forget, the 2010 Tall Club of Rochester Alice in Tall
Wonderland Weekend, August 13-15 at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Rochester.
