Franklin Delano Roosevelt

These words were mentioned during FDR First Inaugural Address in January 1933. What he said then has relevance during our time. President Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 - April 12, 1945) served four terms of elective office from March 4, 1933 until his death on April 12, 1945. He was the 44th governor of New York from January 1, 1929 to December 31, 1932.

During his tenure of President he created employment by massive public works. When Europe and Asia was being attacked by Axis powers (now allies) he donated military equipment to allies being attacked. His position was that of neutrality but the USA was drawn into a world war by unforeseeable circumstances When the men went off to battle women built the armament that sustained them. There was a full employment economy and the factories that produced military goods were later converted to domestic use, for example, nylon which was used for parachutes became female hosiery. He was born at Hyde Park New York and contracted polio when on vacation was paralyzed from the waist down. He did not let this disability defeat him and he tried various therapies so that he could stand. He married a cousin Eleanor who during the war made countless visits to economy sectors and had a journalistic career after her husband death. FDR legacy still lives on.
