The Tall Club of New York City is a not-for profit social club for tall people in the NYC area. The club sponsors social events, provides information on health, clothing and other tall-related topics, and a social exchange program with over 100 other tall clubs around the world. TCNYC members maintain this website for information about the club itself and for general information for tall people around the world.
The club is also active in numerous charitable and public service activities, especial supporting the National Marfan Foundation (www.marfan.org), an organization dedicated to researching Marfan Syndrome, a disease that frequently afflicts tall people. We also participate in fund raising activities for groups like the American Cancer Society and the lighthouse for the Blind
TCNYC is an active member of Tall Clubs International, a sanctioning body with more than 65 member clubs in the United States and Canada. We are also affiliated with KLM and KdG, which represent over 40 tall clubs in Europe. All tolled, there are more than 10,000 people in tall clubs across the globe.
The club is very ethnically diverse, with members of nearly every race, religion and profession, with a large number of professionals and business people. While we do have a number of members in the 6’-8” to 7’-0” range, most of our members are within four or five inches of the minimum for their sex.
Currently the club is 57% female, 43% male and 85% single.
Who we are - We are a group of Tall urban professionals with diverse occupations and interests. Not just being "Tall" is our goal for membership. Our goal is to promote friendships in this cosmopolitan area that includes various ages and ethnic background. Professions of the Membership consists of nurses, doctors, computer whiz kids, stock traders, marketing/publicity, administration, antique dealers, lawyers, fireman, policeman, event planners, school teachers, former basketball players, chefs just to name a few.
Most of us are from New York City, including Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx, but there are also members who reside in Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey and Connecticut. We have gatherings at many different social events; ice skating, wine tasting, concerts, picnics, bowling, billards, dances, muesum visits, coffee talk, bar talk, trips outside the city, other city expeditions, excursions on the water, dinners and more.
It may take more than one event for you to decide to join us after being a Trial Member, but the membership fee is well worth the value. Depending upon the month and what the New York social scene has going on--we try to seek different activities every month to give balance of social events.
Outside the area there are over 60 weekend parties held in cities around the world each year from San Francisco to Montreal to Prague, and TCNYC members attend many of them
There is also a European Convention held in May and a North American
Convention held in July, and TCNYC is well represented at both. The next European Convention is in Berlin, Germany, the next American convention is on the cruise ship Carnival Triumph from Saturday, June 28th to Saturday, July 5th. See www.tall.org for details.
