If you've never had Ethiopian food, this is your chance. Ethiopian is vaguely similar to Indian, but less spicy. Food is served on a thin layer of bread, which you tear off pieces off and use it to pick up bite-size pieces od food.

Bohemian Hall in Astoria, Queens, has an indoor bar plus a wonderful beer garden. Turn off a crazy urban street - the elevated subway overhad - and escape into this huge beer garden with its shady trees, picnic tables, pitchers of icy beer, and platters of hearty Czech food and barbecue. This place is a must on summer.
Take the New York City subway N or W train to Astoria Blvd station. Next walk one block along the elevated (away from Manhattan) to 24th Avenue. Then turn left. It is on the right side of the street.
